Cooks Wanted!

We are still in search of a few honchos (lead chefs) for a few meals during the conference, if you’re interested in this role please email us at hollytwinoaks@gmail.com. You’ll have volunteer helpers to assist with chopping, prepping, etc. If you’re interested in helping (but not being a meal lead) you can sign up for kitchen shifts at registration when you arrive.

More Curated Workshops

Title: BIPOC Intentional Community Council Fishbowl

Presenters:  Paola Diaz, Crystal Byrd Farmer, Christine Wyche, Zarinah Agnew, Aleta Toure’

The BIPOC Intentional Community Council will facilitate a workshop in the form of a fishbowl exercise. This would look like Council members sitting on chairs in an inner circle, and having the audience of folks in an outer circle. The inner circle has the mic and opportunity to have a conversation amongst ourselves, while the outer circle witnesses us and practices mindful listening. We would have predetermined questions to support the flow for the fishbowl conversation.

Title:  More than a nice place to live?

Presenter: Sky Blue

ICs are meant to support the wellbeing of the people living there, and to be vehicles for social transformation. But because of mainstream socialization and pressures, the gravity will be towards just being nice places to live. There is much more ICs could do to support the collective liberation of all people and the planet from systems of oppression and exploitation. In this workshop we’ll explore the challenges and opportunities present for ICs, and begin to sketch out a roadmap for how they can overcome barriers to maximize the potential this movement has to impact the world.

This workshop invites you to think big about what we could do if we worked together on our larger goals, and prepare to be self critical and reflective about what we might actually be able to succeed in.  Interactive format, community experience useful but not necessary.

Call for presenters forms are due by July 31

Full details and info on how to apply are available in our 2024 Call for Presenters post. Please remember that curated workshops must be focused on intentional communities, and/or relate to one of our two major threads/themes- how communities can more effectively network and connect, and building diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion in community. We are particularly interested in workshops about racial dynamics in community, restorative justice, economics of community living, and controversial topics within communities.  Depending on the number of participants at the conference, we will have between 16 and 20 of these workshops.

If you need even more motivation, keep in mind that presenters of curated workshops receive free admission to the TOCC! (A “curated workshop” is what you are offering in the call for presenters form, which is different from the crowd-selected open space workshops offered Sunday afternoon.)

Help promote the TOCC and CIC on social media
